Hello, R.A.N here.
I made a introductory post, I am hoping to upload and debut my cover songs, I don't have any experience with mixing or anything to be honest, I'm hoping to learn as I go but I may have some questions, sorry if any of these questions have been asked before.
My first question is would you guy's recommend me recruiting someone else to mix my covers until I get a better hang of it and more experience myself?
secondly, how do you guys recommend memorizing lyrics and timing in the songs? I've just been listening to the song on repeat and singing along over and over basically.
third, when recording my voice, should I sing the song all together, like start to finish or should I sing in parts and then when mixing if I end up mixing it on my own put the parts together? if that last question makes any sense? O.o
I'm been trying to listen to Rolling girl over and over as I picked that to be my first cover.
any other advice or general tips would be great too I'd love to hear any advice you have for a beginner regardless if it has anything to do with my questions.

i think that you should also learn to mix, but if you do find someone whos willing to mix all of your covers, it will make a lot of difference
i dont really memorise the lyrics of the song, since i record it as i read the lyrics-- while for the timing, i recorded it with the off vocal, so i dont really have any problem with timing
i usually do 3-5 times of recording the full song whether it has a bit of mistakes or not, then after i roughly listens to it, i records parts individually in which i always make mistakes or need special attention because it has impacts, i also pay attention to the first few words of the singing since it's what people hear first

i hope this helps ^^

Hello, and welcome to da forums!
I think that as with most other skills (not quite if this counts as such, but let’s just call it that for now…), each person has their own way of doing things and you just gotta try out different ways and see what fits yourself.
    But here is my input:
    1. having a mixer who knows what theyre doing would be nice, but is it realistic for you to find someone to mix every one of your covers? There are a bunch of how-to’s that you can read, such as this. And just play around with things.
    2. I just listen about 3 times a day when I feel like it (not too much so I get tired of the song) and follow along with lyrics until I feel like I’ve got it. XD Not very specific. I personally don’t try to memorize lyrics, but when you’ve listened to it that many times, parts of it just stick.
    3. For me, I do both one-shot and going in parts, depending on mood. And complexity of the song.
