First Cover (Help? Suggestions?)
I was wondering if I (or anyone else who needs it) could get some suggestions for their first cover?
I'm really unsure and insecure about my singing, and I'm not too fond of my voice. I just don't know what I'd sound good covering. My voice is naturally low, (manly girl range) but I guess I can sing pretty high, and a bit lower than my norm..
I suppose I'm looking for something simple, just to get me started at least...
Other (random) questions:
I have a mic... I know how to download karaoke, put it in audacity and record things,
I'm just not sure on how to work everything else...
I've never even made a youtube video beforepretty lame, I know.
Is there someone who can help me with that? Or another thread?

Re: First Cover (Help? Suggestions?)
Start with a song you like, and learn it. Make sure it's in your range. And when you record, just sing~ You won't sound as good if you're nervous, so sing like you mean it! Don't second-guess yourself.
Mixing takes a lot of practice D: There's a guide somewhere in the forums for mixing with audacity, you could take a look at that. imho, the minimal mixing you need is: 1) making sure you can hear the vocals and 2) reverb. It won't be the best mix, but it'll be passable, and will work for a lot of songs. Don't be afraid to play around. It's not like you're going to be expected to churn out videos daily or anything. You can take your time in mixing :D
Mixing with Audacity
If you've never made a video, you shouldn't feel pressured to make some super-complicated video with tons of effects. If you do want to learn to animate, playing around with good video software (like Adobe After Effects or something) with your solos will be a good way to learn. But there's no reason why you can't just use the original PV for the song, or even just a picture. A look at the video-making FAQ might be useful. It's mostly aimed for chorus videos, but it might still have some useful info.

Rendering and exporting a video depends on the software you use. Keep in mind that a video's dimensions play a part in whether or not your video is uploaded in HD or not ^^;

Re: First Cover (Help? Suggestions?)
If you run on Windows, you can use Windows Movie Maker;
free to use, easy to import pictures/videos/audio files, and easy to export/upload onto YouTube.
If you run on Mac, you can use iMovie; it's ways better than Movie Maker, but it's only free if you own a Mac.
These are just free programs that are available.
If you wish to use more complicated programs, ie. Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe After Effects, you'll have to buy them.
(or get cracked ver. You didn't hear that from me. hushhush)

Re: First Cover (Help? Suggestions?)
What Shurri said. I've ONLY had access to Window's Movie Maker and iMovie. And I like iMovie better. The newer versions are a bit harder to get around, imho, but still really nice for a simple video. WMM is a bit harder to export videos and a bit less intuitive.
