Re: What's your Vocal Range?
hmmmmmmmm, I think the term you're looking for here is vocal range, octave is the term that is used to measure your vocal range

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I'm an alto but some of my Skype pals say my range is crazy.
I can hit the low notes of Soundless Voice and the high notes of Meltdown. xD;;
No idea how.

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I'm soprano, but for the tessitura (right word ?) I have to redo a test. I think it was 1.5 octave... I will say it later.
Re: What's your Vocal Range?
Whoa... girls with the high notes. xDDD
(I'm here to add to the lowness? x3)
I'm a baritone... stuck in the middle; not that interesting. xP

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
@JSR
To me girls that can reach super high notes are considered gods (or goddesses) XDD
Anyway, I'm sorta an alto since I can't reach those crazy high notes without killing myself but I can reach the notes to fire flower and a little bit of soundless voice 8D
So being an alto has it's privileges XD *shot*

Ehhh. About Alto 1 to Soprano 2? o-o *is a mezzo* It's my most comfortable range. I can hit alto 2 and soprano 1 notes too though, but....mehs, not my favourite thing to do OTL

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I'm a mezzo soprano, last time I checked, and I have a range of 3 octaves and 6 notes, If I couild hit a C3 I would have a perfect 4 octave range but ti's too low for me OTL the highest I can hit is a C7

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I have no idea what my range is.. I should test it and have you guys tell me what I am! XD I don't have a single clue as to what an alto or a soprano is.

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I'm actually not sure. I know when I was in chorus I was part of the mid-range but I also helped the boys with the lower parts because there weren't enough of them.... However, I'm really not sure.

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I don't know the technical term but I'm mid-range/low. :3 My range is incredibly small. I wish I could sing those high notes. ;____;

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I joined choir this year and it's helped improve my singing rather drastically.. :] I always thought of myself as a baritone, but I got placed as a first Tenor .. I can sing in about 3 octaves, highest being 1 octave below an Alto :]
Re: What's your Vocal Range?
I've been put in Tenor during choir practice in high school. I assume it's still the same, since my voice has not changed much at all since childhood. It's still really high and soft.
Re: What's your Vocal Range?
Bass, I think I can do 1 and a half octaves.

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
How do you guys test your vocal range? I can reach the lowest note of Kaito's Cantarella pretty comfortably, but die from attempting to sing World is Mine.
Just really curious. ^^"'

Re: What's your Vocal Range?
as I said before, hitting notes DOES NOT mean you can sing in it. Also you CAN'T categorize yourself in certain ranges just because you can hit the notes/sing it. EX:
Maria has a 3 octave range ranging from C below middle C to C above high C, she is consider a mezzo soprano, because that is range she talks/ speaks in. She is NOT soprano or contralto just because she can hit/sing those lower/ higher notes of that a soprano/contralto can.
this applies to male sing too. EX
Jacob is a baritone with a range from B2 to high C5. but that does not mean he is a tenor. :3
to know your vocal range/ how many octave, just go on the piano and start sing from the lowest note you can sing until you yoiu reach the high note without breaking . :3
if you want to know what type of voice you have. *tenor, mezzo etc*
just talk normally, and on the piano figure what key your normal voice hits on. that way its accurate.
if you dun have piano. any intrument will do. just make sure you know its on C scale. otherwise it will throw your reading off.
or you can just download Noteworthy Composer, and compose the notes down, and sing a long with it (since it can create Midi)
If you're music impaire/ no talent for reading notes at all.. you're out of luck.
lol JK JK JK
if you're not skill in that area, except you know, you just like singing then, you can sing along to happy birthday song (in original key octave).
its a 1+ octave song starting @ middle C. if you struggling singing the higher parts, then you might be mezzo soprano or lower.
if you're doing okay then chances are.. you're a mezzo soprano or higher
for boys its tenor
and if you're just skilled in singing and have no idea what range your voice is in. just talk in your natural voice and compare it to a happy birthday, if its lower than HB. chances are..
for boys
you're a low tenor or lower.
for girls
low mezzo or contralto
and you're talking range is on key with HB then you're a mezzo/soprano/tenor
