Audacity help?

I use audacity to record...but I guess practically everyone does xD
But when I record my mic starts to lag after recording maybe 5 seconds.
I even changed my sound card but it doesn't really help much. Currently I'm using a usb microphone and I don't know what could be the problem...my mic, computer or audacity.

Is there anyway to test if its the mic? Because I've already reinstalled audacity as well.

Obvious response perhaps, but... do you have another mic? If the same thing occurs with another mic, chances are it's not the mic.

it already happened to me last time so I don't particularly record on audacity x3~ my uncle suggested that maybe the audacity uses up on your hard drive thats why its slow. So to be straight, I got my own solution by getting other program without audacity. though I don't know if someone has more solution besides on what I did ;A;

Audacity used to do that to me too. It doesn't anymore though, it had to do with me minimising it during recording (I had to read lyrics x.x). All I could do was edit it or re-record a few bits.
After I unistalled it and installed it again it seemed to work fine.
