Audacity Effect

Okay I've noticed on youtube there's this guy called Razzyness and he has a fandub where he sounds exactly like a vocaloid, does anyone know who to do that effect on audacity?

I think that the only thing that can give you a vocaloid effect is Auto Tune oAo!
It's a plugin that you download =w=;;
I recommend you to use Auto tune 4, it's easier to manipulate!
But I am not sure if Auto tune is compatible with Audacity oAo!

I can't remember if it was free, but you can always illegally download the program! Search on Google for VST Plug-in Auto tune 4 xAx That might help you :3!

Ok Autotune doesn't work with Audacity, you will have to download Mixcraft for Autotune to work, but you will only get a limited free trial, also, as an alternative for Autotune, (since Autotune isn't free) you can get Gsnap, It's completely free and does the same thing, that's what I did, hope I could help

I also do the same thing with Kumbancha. I use Mixcraft with a GSnap plug-in as an alternative for Autotune. Will post the url from youtube which helped me through this when I get home today. (currently at school.. -__-")

Ooooh but I've heard that G-snap doesn't work as well as Autotune.
There's a Robot effect thing that comes with Adobe Audition but it isn't quite the same as Autotune.

Well, you could always ask someone with mixing skills to Autotune stuff for you. XDD

As for the Autotune effect, here are the specs I use:

min freq = 40hz
max freq = 2000 hz
Gate = -80 dB
Speed = 1
Threshold = 100 cents
Amount = 100%
Attack = 1 ms
Release = 1 ms
Pitch Bend = 0
Vibrato = 0
Vib Speed = 1.0 hz
Calibrate = 440 hz
* Then just select the scale to set the key you're singing in.

@kran-chan: yes, Gsnap doesn't sound as good as with Autotune, but somehow I think it's okay for fandubbing.

If this wasn't said before, you could always try Noise Removal. It works like a charm but not as good as this Auto-Tune. But if you're lazy to downloading it, I reccomend Noise Removal. Just make sure you don't take out to much noise or else you can't hear your voice.

I disagree with the whole Noise Removal thing... Doesn't really help me. xD Or, if really, can you tell me the settings you use, VocalPuppet?

@chou.: I don't always use noise removal because I don't know why I would want to sound exactly like a vocaloid. I don't really have any setting for it though. I just sing and sometimes if its too loud or something, I use noise removal to remove some background and I somehow sound robotic Lol xD

VocalPuppet, actually; reading Sumire's post, I now know an alternative to Auto-Tune. And her settings works perfectly, I now use GSnap, and it's very compatible with Audacity. :D Noise Removal works as an alternative for the radio-ish sound along with High Pass Limiter.

i downloaded Gsnap but how do i add it into audacity? i tried adding the extracted file into the plug-in file but it didn't work...

@lavitt: I never knew it could go in Audacity. GSnap is mean't for Mixcraft so I don't really know. I can try and see if it'll work on Audacity for you but I highly doubt it'll work owo;;

Really? I have both Mixcraft 3 and Audacity, and GSnap works fine for both of them.

You extracted GSnap to Audacity's plugin folder, correct? If so, the next time you open Audacity, GSnap should be in Effects. However, maybe the problem is because you don't have the newer version of Audacity. I had installed GSnap before on Audacity 1.2.6 but it didn't work. When I installed it again on Audacity 1.3.10, then it worked. So, if you do have the older version of Audacity, maybe you should upgrade. If not, then I have no idea why GSnap doesn't work for your Audacity.

The autotune effect... are you guys referring to Antares and Melodyne software or any random pitch correction software?

I can't guarantee that it sounds anything like Hatsune Miku but if you guys want pitch correction, a free software would be Garageband. There is an American Pop artist named T-pain who is a super user of this sort of vocal pitch technique and there is a youtube video which shows you how to use it on Garageband. I'll find the link if some people are interested.

You work on a macbook pro? iMac? You're in luck, you already have the software installed for free! It's also included in the software bundle iLife for Mac.

Now, you won't sound like Hatsune Miku exactly, but a more robot or insanely pitch accurate professional singer. Your entitled to your opinion if you like it or not!
