Sunne's Serious Attempts at Silliness

Hi!

I'm Sunne. I loved listening to all your covers, and so here I am, dropping off a few of my own. I like to try all different genres, though this doesn't mean I do well in them... Ballads are probably the easiest for me. BUT I WILL VOCAROCK BECAUSE <333333~

I'll order them latest to oldest (why yes, that IS my embarrassingly horrible debut cover that I should never show anyone when in my right mind at the bottom there), and I'm still really new at this, since I started trying to learn to mix two months ago. I know I've still got a lot to learn about both singing and processing, but I hope to improve as I practice at it, so any critique anyone may choose to give can only help!

AHAHAHA. I didn't even post the Japanese cover I did of "from Y to Y", where I flat out just screwed up the last verse.

I tried to sing one of my favourite songs...

First of all, I'd like to say I really like your style of singing, it has a slight bit of a whine which gives it some elegance. I also love your harmonies and adlibs as they blend really well with the song and add variety which spices up the cover! It also shows off your range (which is also a good thing).

Singing-wise, as this is a Japanese cover, I'll point out the enunciation parts, which is very common especially among people who come from western. In most Asian languages, 't' is pronounced similar to a harsh 'd' and the same goes for the 'k' sound, which is supposed to sound like a harsher 'g'. I hope this will help you in your future covers. ^_^

It would also be good to add adlibs around instrumental breaks. I personally think that adlibs are a good way to express out emotions as well as portraying the story of the song other than showing off your range as well haha  So yes abuse them to the fullest of your ability.

As for the mixing, timing is one thing. I notice that you have trouble timing the chorus parts (1:34 - 2:09 and 4:12 - 4:48) where the tempo is the fastest, whereas the rest are fine. It went by a a few milliseconds fast. Sometimes it could be because you might not be on tempo when you sing, or just problems while mixing on your program. I'd suggest to time it according to an on vocal and then listen to it with an off vocal and make touch-up arrangements. I'd say it's a pretty good try at it! You did well.

Ahhhhh, thank you so much for the critique and tips!  

I'll definitely go listen to some more Japanese singers and speakers to hear how the pronunciation should be.

And yes... I struggle so much with timing.  It's been an issue since I started trying to learn to mix.

OH MY GOOOOD!, I'm impressed! O__O that was magnificent!. I always found that ending terrifying and hard as hell, and I watched the anime too, but I did not finish it.

I just started watching Shinsekai yori two days ago, and then was immediately obsessed with this song, and then just found myself covering it yesterday, even though it's not on my list and, and... argh... ;_;

I haven't finished the anime yet! Uh, why didn't you finish it, if I may ask? I'm scared now, lol... >.>

I just stalked your covers again, and eh, what? Your voice is beautiful! The only thing I'd say is maybe a bit unsteady when I think you lose focus on some held notes? Yeah, I think the Naruto ED would probably get blocked, but I hope you do continue posting covers on YT! I subbed! 8D

I really like animes whose story is based on enriching ideas, animes which has everything planned. This one is amazing and the background design is magnificent, but I got bored of it because It gives way too much information to the viewer to try to process everything. But I tell you, I'll return to watch it someday. Dont be scared and watch it, is really good!
