[MONTHLY THEME] January: JAM-∪-AIRY ~ Due January 31st!

January is the month of new beginnings. Where we all make our New Years Resolutions. However, we're not going to quiiiite go with that theme. Not this time. Instead, our theme for this month will be...


Pick an old jam, a song you covered once, redo it, and add a little extra flair to it! Or... go with the second theme, ∪, which is a mathematical symbol that represents a union. Pick a song that represents a union of some sorts! Or anything that has venn diagrams (makes compare and contrasts) or geometry! Alternatively, pick a song that has to do with the word "Airy"! Singer is represented as an airy person? Totally fine. Song is about air? Also fine! Song is selected for you by Aeri(Aerlith)? Also fine!

Just kidding. Not going to go that far on the word play.

Guidelines

• Your entry must be done in the month of January to be accepted. Please plan accordingly. 
  
• Pick a song that features either: 
  1) an old cover that you are resinging, but make sure there is something different about it! (ex. a remix of the arrangement, adding adlibs, etc.). 
  2) A song that has something to do with a union of some sorts, be it a wedding, the breaking of a relationship, either is fine. 
  3) A song that talks about comparisons and contrasts. 
  4) A song that has to do with airiness, be it personality or the actual air.
  
• Your piece of work does not need to be vocaloid-related.
  
• If you are covering a song, it should be at least 1:30 minutes long. If the song you are covering is not that long and it is the full song, please let Aerlith know in advance. If the full song is over 1:30 and you are just covering part of it, it still needs to be at least 1:30 or it will not be accepted. 
  
• If you wish to write translyrics, please write translyrics for the whole song. 
  
• If you are doing art, please do at least half-body! A background is preferable, but if you can't do that, that is fine, too. 
  
• In one or two sentences, please explain how your entry fits the theme.

Why it fits the theme: "Pick a song that represents a union of some sorts!" I took that...and decided to do the opposite. These girls want nothing to do with these guys. No unity. Plus, I suppose it has an old-timey jazz feel to it and has a record player sound in the beginning.

Why it fits the theme: I covered the same song a long time ago, and I was itching to recover it. I finally had the chance to do it this month, but I'm not sure whether this cover better or not. I used a different instrumental this time and did a full version! Sorry for the crappy title though...

Why it fits the theme: My original cover was done very differently....for one, it was recorded with my phone because I didn't have a proper mic at the time OTL  I had sung with the off vocal playing in the background and just uploaded it!  So those are my very raw, unedited vocals you can hear there XD  This new cover was done "properly", meaning I recorded with a proper mic, and mushed it together with the off vocal in Audacity with my epicly bad mixing skills 8D

Also, in my other forums, when we have monthly challenges we usually give feedback and omedato eachother for the progress. ^_^ It keeps us motivated to do more challenges!

Why it fits the theme: I did a cover of Fukai Mori back in September in Japanese and Aerlith found Jason Clarke who made ENGLISH lyrics for this song and told me about of course i couldn't say no && so this is a re-cover but in ENGLISH this time ! (to spice it up) and boy was it hard to not sound cheesy... -.-
He also did the mixing video and harmony to the song, what a great guy!

Why it fits the theme:This song (the Tokyo Ghoul square root A ed) has to do Kaneki breaking off and putting behind his "union" with his past self and becoming a new person. In the full version there are also lyrics suggesting that he's breaking off his relationship with human society as well. This was also a redo of a cover I had done with a previous arrangement here (well it's not very old...), that I had unlisted and decided to sing again because I felt like I could do better.

I was like "Oh I'll redraw an old picture or redo an old cover!" But in the end I found out my recent cover worked with the theme well.

Why it fits the theme: sleep sky walk is naturally a very airy song with all its adlibs and reverb assaults. I intepreted the line "sleep sky walk" as in a dream that keeps repeating, it's like you're walking in the infinite sky which makes it a never-ending dream. So in other words, infinite, airy dream.
