Re: Do you like how you sing?
I love my voice..i used to hate it so much that i wanted to commit suicide...i always tried my best to imitate ayumi hamasaki, BoA and some other singers haha, when i first started off singing japanese songs. but slowly as time goes by, i asked myself "hey who and what am i really singing for?" then i noticed there is no use imitating ppl's voice..you have your own voice and you just have to love it! =D so pls everyone love your own voice and most importantly love yourself! BE CONFIDENT! =D
Give yourself an aim to sing, a reason to sing. For me, I want to see peoples smiles when i sing! just that easy. =D
let other's love your voice! even though you might not love it yourself others will love it and slowly you will love it too! record your own voice and listen over and over again. it is true that we ourselves will have a ticklish feel and say "ee why my voice like that har." when we are listening to our own voice. I have that feeling too. =D
LOVE YOUR VOICE LOVE YOURSELF AND LOVE THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU!
=D
PEACE! love you ppl =D

I think my voice is okay. It just has not developed very well is all XD However, I will say I have developed a very nice vibrato *-*

Re: Do you like how you sing?
I think I like my voice.. I only really started dubbing a few months ago so I'm still trying to get used to it, I like how I can SOMETIMES hit really high note like melt and meltdown but I can also go quite low but I'm still trying to get more control over it so yeah, I like it and am still trying to improve, not for any real reason just for fun :D.
Re: Do you like how you sing?
To the people who are trying to sound loli or cool and manly while that's not how you originally sing.....stop doing it.
It does not fit at all and people singing with their 'original' voice are far more unique and fun to listen to.

Re: Do you like how you sing?
lol fruu is so cool
I don't like my voice because I believe I cannot blend with anyone else because of my control of the notes. And my voice is too airy, it fits soft songs and ballads, but when it comes to powerful and upbeat songs, my voice just seem to sink LOLOL oh, I rarely use my 'chest' voice just because it sounds like I'm giving birth, just saying.

Re: Do you like how you sing?
Eh, there are times I love my voice and times when I absolutely hate it. For instance, sometimes my voice comes out super smooth~ But with more repetition, it gets jagged and rough. v___v
The past two years my voice has been getting a little bit deeper (but a bit nasally). I can't pull off moe anymore, but it's better to sing KPOP with. xD

Re: Do you like how you sing?
Erm....
I'm perfectly fine with my voice
It's a matter about being self conscious or not.
If you have respect for yourself, then you'd be fine with it.

Re: Do you like how you sing?
Like usagininja - actually - exactly like usagininja - I used to try my best to sound like my favourite artist (Hamasaki Ayumi). I imitated her vibrato, I imitated how she cuts off on notes, I imitated how she holds her notes, I imitated how she pronounced her words... but everytime I listened to myself - my voice cracked and sounded strained - and I hated it. I love Ayu, but obviously I can't be her.
When I started singing Vocaloid songs, trying to imitate the vocaloids was not an option since at the time I liked the music but hated the robotic voices of the vocaloids (this was before vocaloid 02 engines and appends). I went with what I have - I sang how I felt most comfortable, and I think I actually improved a lot faster than when I tried imitating Ayu's style. So forcing your voice to go in a certain direction is probably not a good idea. I'm still not exactly happy with it, but compared to a few years ago it's definitely a leap in improvement.
So I guess the conclusion is just to embrace your voice - let it develop naturally and you'll learn to come to terms with it eventually <3
Re: Do you like how you sing?
Well, most people want what they don't have, so it makes sense to be a tad unhappy with your voice on occasion.
I wish I had a super mature voice sometimes and sometimes I wish I had a super cute voice, but in the end, it's just fine 8P
It's weird, though, because sometimes I think I sang something too manly but everyone starts calling it cute OTL it really throws me off 8D;; ahahaaa...

Re: Do you like how you sing?
I'm on the "I hate my voice crew" LOL. I can never get a specific mode or octave of singing Dx
Re: Do you like how you sing?
I used to not like mine so much, but ive improved and ive come to like it ^^
Re: Do you like how you sing?
^What he said.
I find a really large part of "liking your voice" or "not liking your voice" hinges on what type of songs you choose to sing. If you're a contralto (alto who sings in the tenor range - actually, that's a bad example since they're really rare), and you want to sing Melt or something equally high and squeaky in the original range, unless you have an enormous range, of course you're going to hate how you sound. If you sing something you're comfortable singing (ie. in your range), you'll probably find it a lot easier and more enjoyable, and then like how you sound more. <--personal experience, orz.
Also, as Akemi pointed out, you are you. It's hard to sound exactly like your favourite singer/Vocaloid, and it isn't necessarily like you. Granted, there are people whose voices are like Vocaloids come to life, but I think half the fun of covering Vocaloid songs is that everyone has a different voice and a different style. :3
As for myself, I'm not without complaints either despite all the martyr stuff I just spewed out. I don't hate my voice per se, but I really want to have stronger vocal cords that can stand the unreasonable demands I place on it (ie. trying to sing an octave out of my range...). Also, it kind of bothers me how my sound changes between songs of different styles. I guess it's not bad, since I can sing in different styles, but my range still isn't wide enough to support it. My other peeve is that I have terrible lung capacity. It's already about twice what it used to be, but it's still kind of pathetic....

Re: Do you like how you sing?
Hey, can reverse puberty happen? Cause I suddenly got a range as high as Rin's that compleatly seperate from my regular range.
Re: Do you like how you sing?
^@IceQueen: I know exactly what you mean!!! Isn't it just the most freaky thing when you find out that you have a range on top of your high register?! I freaked out for a day. >_> I guess, at this point... enjoy?

It's REALLY freaky cause I'm mezzo-saprano (I think) and suddenly I'm as high as Rin! Though, granted, my voice becomes softer and very little-girl sounding...it's just odd as hell! I'm gonna be singing Magnet wiht this new voice and my normal one so you can hear the sever difference.
Re: Do you like how you sing?
Although vocal range (1 octave, 2 octaves, whatever) is something you're born with, you can also improve it. I hear that you can improve your range by practicing and disciplining yourself. Even if you can't be Mariah Carey, you can hit some high notes you can't at first later on.
With that said, I'll be honest. This thread is funny (Wow! A chance to hate your voice~?) so I just had to post in it. Whether you like your voice or not, you're currently singing yes? That means that a small part of you must bare with your voice somewhat. You can't hate it that much ^^;; You want to improve and sing the songs you like, which comes with hearing your voice when you're mixing anyways XP
As for myself, I'm a writer, not a singer. I'm not trying to go professional or anything. I sing because it's fun and I meet awesome people. And my voice does just that- suit my tiny singing hobby so I'm good
