1/6 - English (fail) translyrics, critique?
Link to the original 1-6, plus English subs
I keep emphasizing that the lyrics seem (least to me) really bad so you'd ask "Lemon, why would you post these lyrics if you think they suck?!". However, I hold this song really close to my heart (it's not the first song I heard from a Vocaloid but it's the song that made me say 'OK, I'm really interested in Vocaloid'), yet my difficulties in Japanese don't make this song sound good and I had wanted to make 1/6 my last song before I went on a real, true singing hiatus (because there'll be a baby in residence for at least a little while and I won't have the ability to sing the way I like to).
The video of the original song, posted above due to this not being a relatively noticed song (from what I see) has English subs which I used for reference; I also used the Piapro lyrics, Googrish-translated, to refer to when writing since I wasn't quite sure on the meanings of some things as referred to in the song.
When I was writing these lyrics, I intended them to fit a bit more to the rhythm but when I test-dubbed this, it ended up not fully conforming as I thought (forcing a rhythm change) so I think some of my wording choices were a bit awkward...
I guess I'd like a bit of critique and advice; I've found I can really only sing properly in English and wanted to try writing my own lyrics to songs, so I figured I may as well try but with my awkward manner of speaking and writing, wanted a bit of tips on how not to mess them up.
(...and I also just realized that the Piapro lyrics had said 'adding to or modifying the lyrics weren't allowed...' what about in the circumstance that the lyrics were used as a reference for translyrics? Geez I'm dumb sometimes.)

- Spoiler:
- 1/6
(said as one-sixth)
Someday soon, I will break the chains of gravity
And bring you to space to go to the satellite
I was walking around town looking for your face
Wandering along all these dark streets in the night
When you talked to me on the phone, the way you were speaking
Made me feel a very great deal of concern
When I had found you, I saw your eyes were reddened
Please don't lie to me, pretending that there's nothing wrong now
I can't leave you alone and let you sink into the dark swamp I'm seeing you go farther in
Someday soon, I will break the chains of gravity
And allow this satellite to fly all around space
Your weight up there, it will only ever be 1/6 of what it was
If the sadnesses you carry are lightened
That's the only thing that I could ever want
Someday soon, I'll take you all the way up there
Out of the gravity
Space traveling is an impossible feat right now
But bringing you higher physically will do
Considering all of the various options
I chose the red tower on the edge of the port
I decided to pretend that I had been running there
A way to explain why my heart was beating so fast
Today, I shall claim the right to bring your hands into mine
Like an elevator heading toward orbit
Our satellite is rising up above the clouds
300 meters higher, your weight may be a little lighter than what it was before
This may only be but a cheap little trick
But I think you understand what I am meaning here
I want to take you somewhere above the boundaries of Earth
Out of the gravity
My feelings are sometimes very thinly veiled
But I think you've probably known that all along
Though I still want to save you if only because of my egoism
It's all because of the sun's light
That the moon can be so brightly shining white
Can you allow me to help you in a similar manner?
Someday soon, I will break the chains of gravity
And bring you to space to go to the satellite
Sorrow and sadness up there, it will only ever be 1/6 of what it was
Space ships are still a bit too far to reach
But until I am able to do so,
Can you please keep a hold of my left hand?
Out of the gravity; someday I'll take you there
Out of the gravity
