1. The first, and perhaps most important thing, is that you do not have to be of Asian descent! Just as I wouldn’t discourage you from joining a Vocaloid chorus if you weren’t Asian, I certainly won’t discourage you from this.

2. Even if you’re not from Asia, I do expect you to have excellent pronunciation on your audition songs. Your Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. must be near flawless when you sing. I don’t mind an occasional pronunciation mistake, but if I or another native speaker of the language you’re auditioning in cannot understand you at all, then we have a problem.

3. Have a good microphone. I’m not expecting anything recording studio quality, but it should at least be decent enough for me to clearly hear your voice. There can be no noise in the background, and you cannot clip. Absolutely cannot. I hate clipping. It’s horrible. Also, no effects. I want to hear your natural voice.

4. If you do become part of the group, as I’m sure many of you will, please be active! I don’t make ridiculous demands, but I do expect you to come and hang out on Skype at least twice a week. I’m building a family here. And if you can’t hang out with your family, then why are you here?

5. Please be punctual about deadlines! One of my greatest pet peeves is people not handing in lines on time. I understand if you’re going to be away or if you have something extremely urgent, but unless you can give me a reasonable excuse, I cannot allow you to give me lines late.

6. This is an Asian Pop group, so you must at least have a good knowledge about the pop culture in various parts of Asia. For example, you should probably know who 2NE1 or Gackt are. If you don’t, I’m going to be a little apprehensive. I’m not expecting anyone to be an expert, but you do need basic knowledge and a good repertoire of songs.

7. We may be using real pictures on some occasions, who knows? If you’re going to be part of the group, please don’t be afraid to show your face. As of now, I can’t think of any cause as to why we’d need it, but best be prepared just in case!

8. I expect good conduct from everybody. If you don’t get in, it doesn’t mean that you’re not a good singer. So please don’t make a fuss or complain. And please do not bash other auditions. Everyone has a fair chance of getting in. Please don’t damage someone else’s esteem.
