Sera's First Cover in Forever
I finally had some free time today, and decided to spend it on covering my favourite song - 'aLIEz' from Aldnoah.Zero! Unfortunately it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, due to several factors. One, because I'm extremely out of practice, and two, because I'm using a different mixing program. Nonetheless, I put my effort into this and had a lot of fun.
(Oh Inaho and Slaine...you two work so well as a team, it's really a shame that you became enemies...)
Please enjoy this cover!
xx Sera

ALIEZ YESSSSS
THAT SONG WITH CHINESE JAPANESE GERMAN AND ENGLISH FOUR LANGUAGES YES
For starters, I THINK IT'S A PRETTY GOOD COVER FOR A NEWCOMER HELLO.
Vocals-wise, You can hold most of the notes pretty fine, just slight off-tune somewhere like "tegaru na tsuyosa de kachitoru sube wo". I also notice that you sang some of the lyrics at a different speed, with the lyrics "furasuita shisou doori da". Although if you want to deliver a better cover, I'd suggest to work on the pitching as well as widening your range. Make sure you do your warm ups before you sing! aLIEz is a very high-ranged song and that's what makes it exciting and awesome!
Mixing-wise, timing of the song is a little off, I'd suggest timing according to the on vocal so you can see where the waveforms are. You can also add reverb or echo around the long notes or the parts towards an instrumental break or the end of the song. The same effect also works on louder notes like "CRIER", "LIAR", "RISING HELL" and "WAR".

Welcome to my covers thread, Ice Elf! Thank you for stopping by to give some feedback^^ It is greatly appreciated!
Now, I am fully aware of the vocal/mixing mistakes I've made in this cover, and it does embarrass me to have them pointed out so accurately, haha. Hopefully those out-of-tune bits aren't too cringe-worthy! (Unfortunately I didn't have the time to record again, because of my annoyed housemates and those thin apartment walls...urgh) As for the mixing, there's also that mic pop, a random telephone affect appearing halfway and that horrible fade-out effect. But bear with me, I'm still learning how to use Garageband! I miss my old mixing programs but I'm stuck with this program for the time being.
Ah yes, 'aLIEz' is a high-ranged song. Normally I wouldn't attempt something like this, however since it's my favourite song at the moment, I decided to just sing it for fun. I'll do my best to work on my pitch! You probably already have an idea of how out of practice I am (see: annoyed housemates and thin apartment walls) so your advice is really helpful.
Haha the differences between singing in a chorus and singing solo... Solo covers are definitely more challenging! In choruses, you get lines well suited for your voice and range, while in solo covers you have to sing the whole thing. Hmm, perhaps I should have pitched this song down a bit~
xx Sera
PS: I've listened to your 'aLIEz' cover and I loved it! Great work, ai-suu~
