Help rolling r's

I have a lot of help threads.XD

Anyway, I cannot roll an r for the life of me. I cannot roll a Spanish style r or the French kind of throat-like r. I mainly want to learn the Spanish r since it seems to be used more often (even though I am taking French). I saw an old thread where it was a poll of people who could roll their r's and a lot of people could not, so that made me feel better (bringing others down with me ).

My biggest problem is that when I watch a video or red something and get my tongue into the proper position, whenever I blow out air, it just makes my tonsil vibrate REALLY LOUDLY. I was practicing rolling my r's and my mom came over and asked if I was dying... . Then, I vibrated my tonsil so loud that my mom thought I had rolled my r and she started clapping for me.... .

That is how bad I am at this. I can curl my tongue up and do that weird W looking shape with it, but I cannot roll it. Does anybody know of any videos that have helped you out or any tips or something for either style of r? I have been trying to learn for years and have watched countless videos and read countless tips; it is beginning to feel like a lost cause.

Hi Joker-san! In regards to the French 'r' rolling, start with a snoring sound. Obviously when you snore, you only hear it when you breathe in, but gradually try to replicate it when you breathe out. Hope that helps~

As for the rolling of the Spanish R I normally compare it to the word Rawr. The R in the word Rawr almost sounds dragged out. To practice just say Rawr and drag out the R at the end.

I sometimes have to this o.o when I forget how to pronounce the R in spanish. XD I'm a sort of fluent spanish speaker.

I do not quite understand how to make a snoring noise without utilizing my nose instead of my mouth...0.o

When one rolls an R the Spanish way, don't you have to have your tongue lightly touch the top of your mouth? When I say 'rawr', my tongue doesn't touch the top of my mouth at all. I may just be saying 'rawr' weirdly though.XD
