Hello guys we're organizing an event here in the Philippines,
called VocaFusion ! And we're having an online chorus battle! Although it's an event in the Philippines, everyone is welcome to join!

The official start of the competition will be on Jan. 1, 2012. We'll be announcing the theme then. But as early as now, you can form groups and plan! <3

There will be four rounds, spanning from January to April. Deadline of submission per round is on the 3rd week of every month. <3

Hmm, I have a few questions for the organizers... Thought it best to ask, just in case this does happen (touch on wood!)

1) What if someone from a certain chorus group happens to be busy during one round of the contest but can make it for the rest of the rounds? (Eg. Person A has exams during the second round of the contest and cannot hand in vocals during said period of time but can hand in vocals for the rest of the rounds.)

2) Also, I note that the assumption is that there is only one mixer for a single group. As such, would it be allowed if we have different mixers for different segments of the competition? (Eg. Mixer A mixes round one, mixer B mixes round 2)

I'm voicing out these questions because 3 weeks can get pretty tight and although I'm pretty ok, I think that some others may face problems where they find themselves in such a situation.

1) There's a rule stating that only one member change can happen throughout the competition. That goes that if you want to add a member, you'd have to take out another one....

So in that situation, if a member, even if he/she is originally a part of the group, fails to join in one round and you'd have to want that person in another round, that's a member change already.

So, it's better to make sure that all members can participate throughout the competition.

2) Yes, you can have different mixers per round.

I have a small question. It says we can cover the song we choose in any language. Can we have multiple languages in one song?

Question, when it says 5-8 members including mixers and animators, what if your mixer/animator doesn't sing would they still count in that 5-8 members?

I mean some friends and I are putting together a group but it goes over 1 because the mixer doesn't sing. This goes to the same question where it's like 5 people, 3 singers, 1 animator, 1 mixer, so it wouldn't really be a chorus it would be a trio who has an animator and mixer.

who wants to create a group and do this with me?!?!

Yes the mixer and animator (even if they will not sing) are still counted to that 5-8 members.

the maximum is 8 vocals, but if the mixer and animator will not sing, then a group can have six vocals, so it's still a group. However if you're only 5 in a group and two of them will not sing, then we suggest you get more members.

i didn't quite get that but yes the mixer and animator can sing as well...as long as the group will not exceed 8 members.

To be honest, we will only have a confirmed list of participants on the day when round 1 entries have been submitted. So just to clarify, there's no formal entry that needs to be submitted? We just form our groups and we join the competition by participating in round one?

It is true that we announced that we will post the announcement on the 1st of January, however we decided to release the announcement a week earlier. Still, the contest will officially begin on January 1st.

##What does this mean? Like, can we do a remix/make our own backing track for the song, then chorus members sing over top of it? Or do we have to use "official" instrumentals?

##Similarly, could we rewrite the song, or use different lyrics for the instrumental of a song? (When I say this, I think of the Rap cover of "Just Be Friends." What if one of us wrote a rap cover for "1/6" or something?

##Does every participant have to sing for every round? Could there be one round where five members sing, and one round where only two members sing?


Where are you all (participants) in so far as making groups? If there's any space left, I'd like to join a group. We can talk on skype, search for "ekku.milukoid". I sing and do some amateur mixing.
