Ideas for auditioning
I really don't know where this is supposed to go but, yeah, I just wanna spread some ideas out before doing an audition because YTC's main audition has be blank for quite awhile now.
There has been a few chorus ideas, but have you ever tried thinking out of the box and go for some general anime songs? IG Hydain no Juujou Yuujou [if I spell that correctly] from Nichijou, or any other song that might sound great en masse of singers.
We can't just try and sing Japanese all the time, why not try singing something American or European?

I think people have done american songs and maybe English songs before but its not common, though i think a few people do anime songs but i still agree

Re: Ideas for auditioning
hm..what about translating vocaloid songs into english and sing the english lyrics?
Re: Ideas for auditioning
Yeah, that would be a good idea! But for some who don't really speak English really well isn't that great... oô Maybe trying with other japanese songs? Hmmmmm... we could, maybe, create our own songs? You know, in Youtube there are some people who make themselfs the lyrics (like matt9five who now deleted his account because of negatives hurtful comments) and the instrumental too. Like go and hear some of his songs in Youtube! Maybe, it will give you ideas...? Maybe? XD Only giving a suggestion you know...

Re: Ideas for auditioning
The are a couple of reasons why its more Japanese Vocaloid songs than anything. Though this is my opinion.
1) Copyright claims- Not all songs have this issue, but knowing youtube anything anime related can be claimed for copyright.
2) Off-vocals- Unlike producers who release an official off-vocal for vocaloid songs, not all anime songs have one. Making a self made off-vocal would make the chorus sound weird because the music track would be ruined.
3) Different languages- there is a bit of issue with this part, even though everyone can type and talk in English. Not everyone is fluent in it. You also have to take into account that there are people with accents.
4) Translations- it comes down to how its translated. Some are translated to make it singable while others are just a translation to understand what is being sung.
It's not always the stuff that I listed that's an issue its more along the lines if the chorus will be kept alive. There are a long of choruses that just die once the mixing starts.
As for YTC auditions being dead, there is a reason, all the admins are busy with life.

Re: Ideas for auditioning
Everything Ryuu said is right.
Although YTC HAS done anime songs before (Dango Daikazoku and Dear You).
And as for the dead auditions, yeah, the admins are very busy ;___;

Re: Ideas for auditioning
Then, couldn't we, I don't know, do audition ourselfs? Like starting to look for songs we could try and starting to look for people who would like to sing and the admin could then decide to do or not to do?? Just a suggestion of mine... ._. I mean if they are always busy and all, we could maybe help them a bit? ^^

Re: Ideas for auditioning
but in relation to non-vocaloid songs, there are open auditions for sorairo days from TTGL and i've recently done a chorus of still alive from portal. if there's a song you'd like to do, then host a chorus for it! <3 don't be shy, put your ideas out there.
as for english songs, it was already mentioned but quite a few of the members here... their first language actually isn't english, and they may feel uncomfortable singing in it.
for english translations of japanese songs, they need to flow and be translyrics, not just direct translations. there are some people here who do translyrics (myself included) and already a lot going around on youtube that aren't bad.
if you don't like any of them or the song you want doesn't have any, try making some yourself and posting them in the translyrics section for help if you need it! c:
saiai, about your idea... i think it's a bit different. if they're too busy to even start a YTC chorus, i don't think any of the staff will be available to work on it. if we were the ones to do it, then we may as well be self-hosting it. that's not a problem, because so many of the regular member hosted choruses are awesome! *o*

Re: Ideas for auditioning
Too bad there isn't a section for voice acting in general. I've got a few models a friend of mine modelled including a couple of vocaloid characters I'd like to test out.
