Musical Theatre Anyone?
I just absolutely LOVE musical theatre. I try to watch at least one musical per year and I keep my tickets.
So far, I've watched Avenue Q, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Rent, In the Heights, and Little Shop of Horrors.
Anyone else a Musicals fan? :D

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
I love musicals too. I get addicted to a certain musical for weeks after watching it. I even love the songs from musicals more than the usual songs I hear in the radio.
I know some but I watched only a few though because I can't.
why? because:
1. Musicals aren't advertised that much here so I don't know when or what is up.
2. It's expensive and I don't always have the luxury to go and watch.
But I really really wanted to watch it. Just now I have to give up watching Next to Normal, Sound of Music and Peter Pan

@Nipah: GAH! So jealous of you!! Disadvantages of living in a country where musical theater isn't much appreciated D; Oh and I could not agree with you more on those opinions XD
@Micelle: AHH! Filipino! *^* It's true that musicals aren't that advertised here ;w; It's kinda painful and sad. And just like you, I have to give up watching Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and Next to Normal...I WANNA WATCH NEXT TO NORMAL!!! QAQ Are you gonna watch the Little Mermaid at least?
Oh and my current obsession is Bare: A Pop Opera. My school's musical theatre group is performing this as a season finale (for the school year) and I'M GONNA AUDITION! *A*

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
I love musical theatre. Thanks to my family, who took me to see my first musical, which was The Phantom of the Opera. I love it so much, that I got into musicals and acting. I haven't seen a lot, because they're really expensive, but I've seen:
- Beauty and the Beast (High school production.)
- Les Misérables
- Chicago
- Avenue Q
And I've seen some musicals turned into movies, but I say that doesn't count. I really want to see Wicked, ever since my choir and I sang Wicked at one of our concerts, I fell in love with it.

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@Xephy: I really wanted to watch Little Mermaid.... I'm saving for it. I heard it will be showing this November but I'm not sure how much the tickets will be... so for now I'll just save money. BUT... Next to Normal... this will be the second time I'm going to miss it. Anyway goodluck in the audition. I hope you get the part you want.
@iMissTera: I want to watch Wicked too. Btw, I think even musicals turned movies can be counted since some musicals become popular to an even bigger audience because of those movies. I started with watching movies too . But in terms of performance, most of the time, the broadway performances are better than in the movies.

@micelle: That's what I mean. c: The performances are way better than the movies. So, I just it would count. Since it's a musical. xD I think that Wicked is going to get it's own movie. I really hope so. That'd be awesome.

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@iMissTera: Oh. That's what you meant... hehehe... sorry about that. I do hope Wicked gets it own movie... and Idina should be in there or else it won't be valid. (whispers: I'm a BIG fan of her voice) If you ever find out any info about a Wicked movie please share it with me... please please pretty please. I'm so slow to pick up news like this.
Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@micelle: It's fine. c: OMG. I love Idina, her voice is so pretty. Sure, no problem! I'll be sure to tell you! c:

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@iMissTera: YOU LIKE HER VOICE TOO! yay~ I love it when I meet other people who loves the voices I love... hahaha. The first time I saw her was in RENT: movie... and I fell in love with that powerful voice.
Speaking of Rent (and trying to be ontopic?) This must be the most recent musical I watched live. I have musicals on DVD like that old broadway of Sweeney Todd and CATS.

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@micelle: Same here! Her voice is so powerful and pretty. She's great at what she does. She's great in Glee too. (Don't hate me because I like the show.) I don't have any musicals on DVD, I want some though. Rent is a really good musical! My choir sang some songs from Rent. c:

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@Bow: Oh my! We have a mad dentist in the thread XD
@micelle: Thanks!! I really want to watch N2N, too ;A; But I just don't have the money for it ><
AND GAH! I LOVE Wicked! It was one of the first musicals that I knew. I hope it comes to the Philippines soon ><
If we include movie musicals, I've watched The Phantom of the Opera...but I still want to watch it live in the theatre.
I also think that live performances are WAY better than movies. There's just something about seeing it in front of you that's very enchanting! *A*
I'd also LOVE to watch Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, N2N, Lion King and Billy Elliot. GAH I love musicals <3

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
I like musicals... But I never had the chance to go to a real one... and I probably never will, I've never been to a concert or anything either...like ever... OTL In my eyes, tickets cost too much moneh... -shotdead-
However! My school holds musicals every two years, and I have never auditioned for one yet (was unable to go to weekend practices, so I couldn't audition anyways) and next year is the last musical ever for me... ; A ; So I'm gonna finally audition this time... My school's doing (Disney?) Beauty and the Beast and so far I'm thinking of auditioning for Mrs Pots... because I'm not pretty enough for Belle... ; n ;
Plus, in my opinion she sings the best songs in the whole musical. ;DDDD

@iMissTera: I like Glee too.
@Xephy : I'm poor too. AND YES! I agree to Wicked in the Philippines! Let's demand it!
@Yukiko Suzugawa : You should definitely audition and you should try for Belle too... you'll never know if you're qualified if you don't try.

Re: Musical Theatre Anyone?
@micelle :'DDD kayy~ I'll try XD;; hopefully I might even get to be an understudy, woot! > w >; The only thing is that the Yr 12's for next year will be picked more than likely because it's their last year for it (and, to be honest, it will my year group's lat year too, so that's a bit unfair... *sigh*)
