@ANU
That answer is correct. owo)b
@Jin
If you want, the textbook is there for you to banhammer. I'll have an excuse for not doing my math homework. ouo

Re: oh my what. it's math.
^
JK I just wanted to use this!
Ah, the classic DRT formula. Distance = Rate x Time or something. One of my favorites in math.
A) The equation would be D = R x T, which applied would be D = 4 x T
I'll skip B to D because I hate that stuff in Math.
E) Oh lordy, you've been given your T! So now that the time is given, you're equation looks like
D = 4m/s (miles per second) x 3.5 hours.
Simple multiplication. But the question lists seconds. So you gotta do a bit of extra.
3.5 hours is basically 3 hours and 30 minutes. Multiply 60 minutes by 3 (180 minutes) and add 30 to get 240 minutes. Then multiply 60 seconds to that, as 60 seconds = 1 minute. You get...
D = 4m/s x 14400
The guy traveled 57,600 meters (holy hell...).
F) This time, it's the opposite. The distance of 17km is given. So your equation looks like
17km = 4m/s x T
But the rate is measured by meter, so covert 17km to meter. You get...
17000m = 4m/s x T.
In a case like this, divide 17000 from the 4. The guy traveled for 4250 seconds.
Just throwing this out there, I TOTALLY was just winging this. XD

O___O Woah Jin travelled 57,600 meters to Roka's school just to banhammer textbook? That's.. *calculating in progress*... 57.6 kilometers.

PS : what's the point of this topic anyway?

Re: oh my what. it's math.
It's actually pretty simple. You're already given a set amount of applications. When brought to a D=R*T formula, you just need to plug in what they give you.
The problem with that question is that they were somewhat being specific, making you think a little more (it did that for me). Normally, the rate or speed one would be going would come out as miles per hour, or mph. However, in a case like this they were asking for distance in meters and time in seconds, having you do a little more calculation than you'd want to.
When faced with a DRT formula, it is normal that they already give you two measurements. Simply plug them in and apply the math. Say for example that your distance and time are already given, so you'd have to find the speed, or rate. Your equation would then look like
D = x * T, x being what you have to find, and D and T already being given.
The equation in word form means "Distance is equal to Rate/Speed times Time." According to this, you find the Distance by measuring the units of Speed by the units of Time. So if you needed to find something, like Rate, you'd have to do something different.
Rate is ALWAYS something over something, like meters over seconds, or miles per hour. It would always look like m/s or mph (which is essentially the same thing but in letter form). But it actually would look like D/T, Distance over Time. Say you're given 40 miles in 2 hours. 40/2 = 20, so you've been driving at 20mph (slowpoke...).
To find Time is the same way. You take the Distance and divide that by the speed given. Say you're driving for 40 miles at a speed of 20 miles per hour. You divide 20 from the 40, and you get 2 hours.
D = R * T
R = D/T
T = D/R
And there, you have DIRT.
