Recording with dynamic mics?
Hi everyone! I'm considering getting a Sennheiser E835 so I can get started on singing but it's one of those microphones with a 3 pin connector. Do I have to connect it to a amp first before I can start recording or would it work like a line-in computer mic?

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Well, you could try buying a microphone chord that ends with a 6.35 mm stereo plug jack. Then you could attach it to a connector jack that lets you plug it into the frontmic slot of your computer.
I tried doing that with my microphone once. It worked fine~
You could try going for an amp but that would cost a lot more money. xD;;

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Thanks! Glad it's possible to use the mic slot or I would have to try using my guitar amp as a last resort :<

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Something I would like to mention though. My dynamic microphone had a problem with recording. When I recorded in stereo, only the left side was recording and not the right, so I could only hear my recording play on the left ear when I listened to the playback. I dunno if it would apply to you. owo
Just record in mono if you have that problem.

Ah...
Is there a way to fix it?

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Nope, you'll have to record in mono on Audacity, Adobe Audition, etc. It's not too bad. owo

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
i also have this problem with stereo recording.. but i still using it. haha
after finish record, i just split the tracks and change only the one with with large wave then set it to mono. it gives a little high quality of your voice.
but i dont recommend you to do the same as mine since you still dont know the functions of mono yet~ haha.

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Thanks for the tip but I can't even record anything =/
The mic came in today. I plugged it into my computer and when I tried using it, the input volume would be really really low. Tried both Audacity and Audition 3.0 but it was the same. The line barely registered any volume

The voice tab at the Sound and Audio devices properties? The Advanced button is blanked out under the voice recording section ... =/kran117 wrote:Did you check your control panel? You can apply microphone boost.
I turned on the boost at playback control but it doesn't seem to do anything

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Hmmm... you fixed the volume to the highest right?
If that's the case, then you'll have to download RealTek. that or just amplify your recordings.

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Hmmmm... try checking the preferences in your recording software. Also, try toying around with your driver settings or switch the microphone thing to FrontMic and see what happens.
Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
FrontMic? Where can I set this?

Re: Recording with dynamic mics?
Ah, no. It just gives me the option of Sound Blaster Audigy. Same with Audacity, it's either that or some Microsoft input thingkran117 wrote:Under voice recording, can you change it to anything else?

Just tried it. It's called Microsoft Sound Mapper- Input and it allows me to record too but the volume is still way too low ------^---------
sorta like that. There's not much of a spike and when I try to bring the dB up when I'm done, my voice sounds distorted like it's straining to bring the volume up
