Hi, as last seen in the other criticism thread, I notice a lot of vocalist requesting for criticism has gone unnoticed. Its disappointing right D8! So I thought I should create this thread for you 8D!
I promise to listen to all your request, and criticize you in best way possible!

NOTICE

anyways, due to a lot of request, I will only do first come first serve, and only 2 request a week per person. . That means you are only allow to request 2 times a week! so that way it gives other people chances to give their files too!!

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE SUBMITION!

- All files should be in mp3 format (wavs are too big!)
- I prefer streamed uploads such as 4shared and box.net, but if its not, its fine too, as long as the upload server is reliable and NOT filled with advertisement spam links :]

- You should always give me links to the original song, so I would know how to criticize.
- You need to be specific in what you want to hear from me. Last thing you would want to hear are things you already know you're not good at :]

- I am not some god, nor professional vocalist! I am doing this because I like listening to you all, and because I care :] so don't expect me to help you become some famous pop-star all within a night's span. I do give vocal tips too, but that's not the point of this thread you can contact personally if you wish to talk about that topic ^^

- Lastly, if you're too sensitive, and can't take harsh or normal criticism in general, this is NOT for you :], I am only interested in helping people who want to improve, and while at it, have fun in singing! This is not for people who are just there to sing for fun and can't handle bad score marks!

um skypelag doesn't seem to be doing anything right now so

The only thing I can criticize was your pitch. You can sing high, but you can't get it spot on. You were flat half the time, sometimes one step and other times half a step down. Only when the song became less hyped and later, towards the end did you hit the right notes.
I don't know if this was because you don't have perfect pitch or if the song was just too stressful. I'm thinking it's a bit of both.
I can't evaluate anything else because the song wasn't mixed well, or you don't have a good microphone.
One thing I can say though is
nice lung capacity
Start pitch training and it will sound much better.

As for you, Jasmine,
I'm not exactly sure if your voice is naturally nasally, or if you actually recorded with your nose pinched. Maybe some Japanese people have a fetish for that kind of thing, but it just doesn't sit well with the general public. I also didn't see much emotion with your singing. The whole song was pretty much one flat volume and timbre. Pitch (which you got right) isn't everything. Change it up a bit. It could also be something to do with how you mic'ed (positioning of mic) or if you mixed it poorly.

Frankly, singing like a robot doesn't sound good and it doesn't impress anyone outside the demographic of listeners who lack a musical ear. You don't need a high or cute voice. She's 17, and she's 12. I know you guys can do so much better, especially considering how young you are. I have seen much worse, and I would listen to you if you dropped that Vocaloidesque voice. I'm sorry if I'm very blunt about it all. I know it's very hard to do this right. But if you want to sound great, try the NND singers. You know why they're popular? Because they sound more human than anything else.

I know I'm not that great a singer, but you should just know that I wasn't trying to sound like a Vocaloid? o - o

I don't think anyone here would really try to sound like Vocaloids, unless it's their UTAU....

I've been trying to improve my range, but I still sound stressed even when I can hit the high notes properly. My speaking voice is actually alot lower than my singing one. I've been for a while to try and improve and not sound so nasally, but that only seems to happen when I'm belting. When I sing, I tend to sing in my head voice/ falsetto, so maybe that's why. Either that, or my singing voice and my speaking voice are just naturally nasally. I dunno.

I laughed when you mentioned the fetish part though. LOOOL Not really sure why anyone would want to record with their nose pinched to sound cute unless its a song that was meant to. LOOL

Hmm....Thank you for the strict criticism! I know I still have alot of mistakes but I wasn't sure if it was just me, or if something messed up in the mixing. orz. It was nice to see someone point it out for me. I'll be sure to work on these things, hurhurhur.
