Transister Radio Effect?

You might want to try using a hi-pass filter and low-pass filter on the audio track.

Old radios could not broadcast high treble and low bass - therefore taking out the higher frequency and lower frequency should get the audio sounding very thin and choppy.

I actually haven't used Audacity for sound processing so I'm hoping simple plug-ins like these are available for you.

hmm you mean the part at 0:51 right? it sounds just like the effect I was imagining when you said "transistor radio" effect.

He sung it an octave higher and got only the mid-range sounds to cut through.

Again, there are probably other ways to achieve that effect, I think it's relatively straightforward.
