Using my voice wrong
I lose my voice whenever i sing... My singing voice also has a weird airy husky sound to it..but i dont think its supposed to sound that way...And I get very out of breath when I sing...I hate it, it makes me want to give up..What am I doing wrong? Is it something I can fix or is my voice just not meant to sing? If i can fix it, how do I? Help...anyone..?

Re: Using my voice wrong
Sounds to me like you're using the wrong technique to sing, do not worry Shoy, that's a very common problem many beginners have, well, since I'm not really an expert I wouldn't be able to tell you waht's worng with the way you're singing but my theory is that you're using your throat to sing rather than your stomach, see, when you use your throat to sing, your voice tends to get tired faster and not give the best sound it possibly could, because it's not well supported, it also creates tension on your larynx (which is the organ in your throat that makes the sound when you talk or sing) and that could damage your voice in the long run. So pretty much, everytime you sing, you should pull the sound from your diaphragm, which is a muscle close to the stomach, and that way your singing is gonna sound supported, richer and more powerful, it also helps you in singing high notes better and more effortlessly, (but do not force your voice to sing higher that what you actually can cuz that's even worse than singing fron your throat!), to achieve that I would recommend to put your hand on your stomach and feel yourself breathing, then make a sound pulling it from the diaphragm and you should feel your hand on your stomach moving as you sing a random note, do this until you can succesfully sing from your diaprahm unconcsiously, takes practice but it really improves your singing,
sorry if this was too long and sorry if this isn't really your problem, but I at least hope i could be of help for someone, (is a nerd OTL)
anyways, keep singing Shoy
