Hello hello ; v ; ... I'm Roro! I don't do like, anything, to be fair, since I can get really frustrated with my singing but ... I do manage to get stuff done!! I don't post a lot on YouTube since I'm not very good with making videos / editing, but I've been trying to get into the habit of it.
I'm a contralto / countertenor that can also trap sing high, but I don't make a habit of it. I love to make harmonies, so a lot of my covers are like ... unnecessarily buried in them LOL.
technical;

-audacity

Re: Roro does a lot of rocking (@ v @)
I had to retype this so I didn't have to keep ranting so if you don't understand something let me know lol.
So I reviewed both Matry (dont wanna type the full name anymore lol) and summertime because those are the two songs I'm most familiar with. I want to say that I'm so glad I got to review these two too because they're different genre's and they're both recorded FAR from each other which is obvious because your recording in Matry was much approved from Summertime.
Now I do want to ask you something that you might get confused about, but do you have braces right now? If you do, do you have the rubberbands in your mouth while you're singing? I feel there's something in your mouth that is obstructing your full potential and is gathering quite a bit of saliva which is coming back to me on the feedback. I use to have braces myself and I had the chain "rubberbands" that made me build up so much spit I couldn't talk without sounding like I was drooling all the time, LOL. If you do have braces and rubberbands I'll ask that you please try a recover with them off to see if it helps. I noticed in one of the songs (I believe it was summertime) you took a drink of water and it cleared all that saliva which made your vocals sound much clearer which helped you sound A LOT better too. If these are things you can't help, then that's fine too, it's not going to cause you too much of a problem.
Another thing about Summertime was that since this is such a soft acoustic song, I felt the last thing you really needed was backvocals as strong as they were. They were a nice touch but they did need to be brought down in volume by just a tiny bit so that your original vocals could stand out more. And I didn't feel the second verse so much needed the backing vocals as much as the chorus and hook did. Needless to say your ability to harmonize is amazing and all in all this is my favorite cover from you so far.
Now in Matry. Matry is a powerful and upbeat song. When I hear it, I want to bounce and headbang and have fun. The problem with this was that you sounded a bit still like you had the same emotions as Summertime, soft and relaxed. You seemed to have lacked personality when it came to this song. In fact your laugh had more personality than the rest of it, and I'm so glad you put a laugh in it too because it was super cute and it made me smile and want to laugh too. It was great. Above all, this song also had backing vocals in it but these backing vocals really made your original track shine instead of trying to compete with it. You did an excellent job at not trying to overcompensate it and the timing of the backvocals were perfect to me.
All in all I love your voice, I love your vocal range and see much potential. Please remember to drink water whenever you can to resoften your voice, remember if it's an upbeat song to put some overdrive in and when it's a soft song to fall back (like singing to a sleeping baby as my voice teacher use to put it I guess)
good luck with future covers! I look forward to listening to them!~

Re: Roro does a lot of rocking (@ v @)
omg wahh thank you so much for the feedback ; o ; ,,,
yes !! i do have braces right now sob but when i covered summertime, i actually had something called a sarpe expander which made it hard to sing clearer since it occupied the upper portion of my mouth ; A ; it made it pretty hard to clear my mouth without water too, so wwww.
( ah yes. the days when i only did one take of songs.... )
a large problem i have ( especially with the upbeat songs ) is that my voice isn't loud by itself so i have a hard time trying to amplify in a song - ie, during the choruses of matryoshka and outer science, i had to layer on some backing because it just wasnt loud enough .... i'm planning to buy a pre-amp, so hopefully it'll help alleviate the problem? but i was already at my highest volume so www ,,
there's a lot of peaking in my songs because i have the recording volume on max and im singing as loud as i can but im thinking of testing some things out to try and fiddle with it wwww
thank you so much for the feedback ; v ; !! www i'm really glad to hear that someone likes my voice sob ,,,

Hi Roro!
Thanks for sharing your covers! I loved your version of Wave, and Daze, and it was so cool hearing your progression over a year on the same song! The fresh interpretation was very nice, and I like the quality and tone of your voice!
On the critique side (hope you don't mind), do you find that your voice shakes at the end of phrases? You sound like you're running out of breath, sometimes. I'm just gonna parrot what my singing instructor tells me. Take a quick, but deep breath at the beginning of the phrase, and make sure your airflow is even throughout the entire line of lyrics. Mostly, it's just having the awareness of how much air you're using that smooths it all out. Nothing really technical.
As for timing your harmony, I find it helps to split up the background vocals into syllables when you're editing/mixing. Then, it's pretty easy to slot the syllables into place and time it to the main vocals.
I hope to hear more from you!
