Joe's Box of Squealing and Delight

Post by vodkaloid on Sun Oct 12, 2014 1:45 am

Nice to meet you, everyone! As a complete newbie on the forums, I've done a bit of research (a.k.a. stalking) to see how to format this thread properly. My latest cover will always be on this first post with previously posted covers in the posts below. I am really looking forward to meeting collaboration partners and watching amazing covers by you guys!

UPDATE: Hey guys, I'm still a newbie but I don't stalk people any more (//pats-self). Also my voice has improved over the past several months thanks to lifting heavy weights with my face; now I have a 6-pack on my neck. On second thoughts I should go to hospital to get it checked out.

I agree with chibeh. c: You have a very nice, warm voice.

That sort of robotic voice was pretty trippy. I take it that was Robot Joe? XD

I noticed that you also did Witch Hunt, and compared to this one, the mixing is a lot better in your newest cover. It was a bit difficult to hear your vocals But yeah, newest cover was much better! Sounds a lot crisper.

Also, quick question. How are you with harmonies? I collect harmo guides, and if you'd be up for sharing yours, I can link them to my document. You can find the document here.

Thank you, chibeh-san! It's really interesting because when I initially started to make covers, I would just sing like I normally would to the mic. But, after a few months of experience, you begin to adapt. For example, I now sing closer to the mic, slightly lower my volume and tilt my head up just a bit to get an 'airy' effect. Once again, thank you :3

Hello, Aerlith-san! I'm having difficult pronouncing your username T.T

Ah, yes XD Robot Joe. A lot of people tell me that the sudden deep robotic voice takes them aback XD. Mmm, regarding Witch Hunt and many of my other recent covers, thank you for pointing that out. I think it's to do with 3 things. Firstly, whenever I sing in English...I just can't do it well. I can hardly understand what I'm saying unless you use subtitles and my clarity goes haywire T.T Secondly, my 'singing style' was sloppy in that cover. Like I said to chibeh-san, I now tend to tilt my head up just a bit for that 'airy' effect. However, because I knew this song quite well I was singing it like a One-direction fangirl at karaoke. Thirdly, it's sometimes about luck. My mixing sometimes turns for the better, but other times it just sounds mediocre //cries

Oh, ah.. please don't doublepost. XD You can just combine your posts into one. Also, I like that comparison. One Direction fangirl. And ahhh I see, that makes sense then.

You can just use Aer or Aeri btw. Surprised But the actual pronunciation is like Air-lith.

When the girl started singing, I thought it was you at first, ahahah. And I was like whoa what when'd Joe get such a clear trap voice. That and I was scanning the credits and I didn't see the girl's credit at first. XD Anyway, Dogfight! I really liked that song when I was younger! You guys did a great job with it!

The only thing is I think there was a part around 0:44-0:48 where your voice got a bit drowned out? D: You could probably turn up the vocals a bit overall. And then at the end after the girl's done singing.

YOUR VOICE IS REALLY REALLY NICE. It kind of... involves the listener? I'm having a hard time explaining but you really drag me along by your pace of the song with your voice, which makes the songs really fun to listen to.
