Reviving Old Choruses Empty Reviving Old Choruses

Post by Aerlith Thu May 01, 2014 2:30 pm

Hi everyone!

So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reviving some of the old chorus videos that were planned. The old members who did make it in originally would get first priority, but if they do not respond by a certain time, then their spot would be open again. There would also be at least some newer members who will be able to participate, although the amount will depend on how many of the older participants want to join again.

Before we try reviving them though, I have several questions for all of you.

How many of you would be interested in auditioning? Do you think this should be a first come first serve to help speed up the process or should it be auditions? Should a member only be allowed to participate in one chorus so that more people will be able to join? And do we have any staff that would be interested in helping out with mixing and animating? Another question is... do you guys want to sing the whole song and then have mixer decide where to cut and piece together. OR it can be scripted.

The first song we would be doing if we do revive the old choruses would be Fire Flower. I've already PMed everyone, and three of the old singers have agreed to join. I was thinking of opening up five spots so there would be a total of eight singers. However, as previously mentioned, I can't animate, and my mixing is... not that good either. So that means we would need a mixer and an animator, and possibly an artist. I don't want to open up auditions until we have the staff, so if anyone is able to help out, that would be great.

Please also make a post if you're able to help mix, animate, or draw by the way. >w<

Anyway, let me know your thoughts! I am a bit hesitant to try reviving the old choruses because I can't handle the bulk of the work myself, but it would be nice to finish them, so that is why I am asking!

Staff who have signed up:
Vievith - Mixer - equalizing/compressing.
Himitsuni - Mixer.
Onion - Mixer.
Legender - Mixer/Artist.
Taifuu - Artist.
Spoon - Artist.
DraceVestell - Artist/Animator.

Looking forward to the revival.

I would totaly sign for sing this haha I never been able to join any of the main chorus of the forum.

I can help for sure with mixing too and harmonies.

------
About your wonders, I think you should let the old members sing it and get some new singers.
From my past experiences if you script a chorus you mainly heard auditions of people and you can definitly pick parts where the person might shine.
You don't script if you do it a more freely way or if you know it's a a whole group singing, cause it can be really frustrating for the singer to have two sentences pick when he spent like 3 hours trying to record the whole song.

So better have auditions, a script, and put on the spotlight the old members.
But yeah for the moment don't bother your self about have people changing at each chorus, let's see yet how many person you have for this one and you will see who will be interest for the next one

Thank you for your feedback! I am definitely going to try to get as many of the old singers back as I can, but I don't know what I can do about people who just don't respond to my PMs. ^^'' Will definitely be hitting you up for harmo guide if we can't find harmo guides! And is there any particular aspect of mixing that you would want to help in?

I think.. I agree with you, about doing audition, and then scripting it. I was thinking of people singing maybe the last 1/3 of the song, since the endings tend to vary juuuuust a bit and are also sometimes higher than the beginning.

How does a two week audition period sound? Is that enough time for people to get vocals in? ^^

And it sounds like we have enough interest and people to help out. I'm not sure who the person who volunteered to help animate was though, so if you can please let me know, that would be <3.

Well it's fine to be honest alot of time did pass so most of them probably don't even sing anymore yah with ages you got a job who just kill fandubing.
Though make it fair, just give a lil bit more to old singers or their old parts in the song.

Uhmmm I can time, compress, make back up vocal, after I'm not good for mix this kind of song though if it's a song with electro/autotune I can totaly do it.

Sure make them sing 1/3 it a great idea.

Uhm well two weeks is enough since I see like you got 14 members of the forum who would like to audition so if you go with 8 singers at least you can totaly fill the empty spots.
Also fire flower is reaaaaally famous, lol so two weeks is enough it's not really complicate to sing (not as fast would be world  end dance hall or high like Tweeter, or fucking pain in da A@# like Tengaku lol)
But for god sake let current the members of the forum join in and not a full Old members cast.

Reviving Old Choruses Empty Re: Reviving Old Choruses

Post by Aerlith Mon May 05, 2014 7:52 am

Definitely! I will be including newer members always. ^-^ If by some miracle we get all eight old members joining again, I'll open up four spots so newer members have a chance, too. I think the biggest group will be twelve though, since that will be a lot for the mixer to handle. The old singers had to sing the whole song though from the look of it though, so will probably script based around them and then look at how the others fit in. >w<b

@Himi: I'll put you as a timer then? Since Vie wanted to take care of equalizing and compressing together. >w<

Actually. I was thinking... Since I do have access to some of the old members' lines (at least the ones who turned it in), maybe they can guest star in the final chorus? >w< Something like, join in with everyone else or something, I don't know, or just be featured by themselves, sort of as a tribute to them. xD Is that too ambitious?

Anyway, last thing, if Fire Flower goes well, we will most likely do Toeto next. And then Melt, with a guys and a girls' chorus (so two!), since that is what they did before. I'm not sure, you guys can decide the order. ^^ Maybe even try for two at the same time? xD I don't know, what do you guys think?

So most likely I will do something like, you have one month to turn in lines after you audition and make it in. If you can't get it in by then without telling us, your spot will be given to someone else. I really don't want to be chasing people down for lines, especially if they disappear after a while, because it kind of kills the momentum of the project and looks like it was part of the reason why some of the old choruses never got finished. >.< So probably do like, a two or three week reminder and be like, heeey just wanted to remind you of your lines! If you can't make it, please let me know! Can extend it longer, blah blah if needed.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. ^^'' I don't mean to be harsh, but if we are going to revive them, I'd like to actually get them done this time. >.<

I haven't really been long enough in the forum (or in the whole Youtaite thing for that matter OTL) but I think it would be great to finish the old choruses! I mean, the feeling of accomplishing something left undone is really nice.

Trying to at the same time will be great if Fire Flower does well. Maybe with Meltdown next? Since it's for boys and for girls. Maybe a girl mixer/artist for the girls, and vice versa? OuO But if one is lacking, well... yeah. XD

And you don't really sound harsh or anything at all. Actually, it's better that way. e_e. Some people tend to forget, and really need motivation. (y)

I really want to join this forum's chorus someday, so I will really try auditioning. If I don't get in though, well, I'm still interested in the other choruses ~ /shotd/shotd.

Good luck ~

Sounds good for me a month. As far as what I do remember the old staff was kind of harsh lol about rules and it was not that much bad in this way.

It's the a chorus done by the forum itself not a random thing do by a voodoo elf girl under the sea. If it was me I would not event remind anyone, you auditioned you are taken you are a big guy/girl handle your life.

Im way harsh than you I guess lol

Yeah, I gotta agree with Himi-kun on his point. I dont think anyone would want to spend 3 hours trying to get every single line as perfect as possible if half of it gets cut out by the mixer in the end. Personally, I'd also rather have a script and just focus on those specific lines, unless the entire recording is being used like they did in Sakura no Ame

You should probably hold auditions for mixers to separate the good mixers from the good mixers

Post by Aerlith Tue May 06, 2014 7:53 pm

Hmm! That could work. ^^ Let's do that for the next round of songs though? Then we could use Fire Flower lines for the mixing auditions. How does that sound? I don't have anything off the bat that people could use for a mix audition, except maybe the old chorus lines that people sang. Those are the whole song though, and it'd be a lot of work for everyone auditioning, since they'd have to cut and piece everything together.

THE OTHER OPTION. Is to use the lines that the winners sang and I can provide a script, and the mixers can then mix it. The deadline would be two weeks (or is that too short?) so we will be able to finalize our mixer(s). But that seems a bit overly complicated. >.< (Although I guess they'd still have to cut and piece things anyway, just not as much orz). I am okay with not doing auditions though, since this will also give people an opportunity to practice their mixing. As shurri pointed out, it's more that we get people who are willing to put in the time and effort to do the work that is more of a concern.

To be honest, I wasn't sure if we'd actually get so many people volunteering for mixing/art, so.. I didn't think of opening up auditions for it, too. ^^'' Ideally though, I'd like to have people focusing only on one role though, so like, if they can mix and draw, do either mixing or drawing only, not both.

Either way, if we are going to stagger the videos, I think.. only one mixer should work on one chorus at a time. >w<b

Aerlith, auditions are good for mixer too. It's up tp you to simply asks a sample or make them mix a port of a song.

As far as I do remember, I don't remember auditions for mixer, it was mixed from nowher by the strengh of the void LOLOL.

So I think you need a staff ..... who are member of the staff atm ?

Well almost all the active people are proposing their help, you  can really take the opportunity to make a good living staff. For make the forum way more alive, gain popularity, cause you proposed a battle chorus base on the same plan of what you are doing at the moment who means do memorial songs of YTC. It's a pretty nice idea but I somehow don't see the point "at the moment" do to that since we are doing the same.

and I really think make choruses of new songs might help to fill up the forum. So I propose to have two choruses at the same time. People are on the edge for help so....
