GIMP not opening certain files? Empty GIMP not opening certain files?

Um, I didn't know whether to post this here or under Art but here goes.

I was editing pictures for a chorus video and I noticed that some files opened just fine and others didn't. They were all JPEG files to begin with but some just refuse to open.

Here's the message I get: Error

Could anyone tell me how to fix this problem please?

If it helps, I have GIMP 2.0

I'm not sure as I've never gotten this error before, but there could be a problem with the location of your file. I'm not sure. Maybe try opening it in gimp another way? Possibly, file drop from the location and drag into GIMP.

If it is not what Akisame said, then I guess it is because GIMP cannot read japanese characters and opening a file located in a folder or named in japanese characters get you the error.
