So I thought of this today but...
What is the amplitude of the waves when you guys record stuff?
When I'm talking at normal volume it only gets 1/6 of the "max volume before clipping" in audacity.

I realized my voice may be busted because of this since I try singing reaching the loudest I can.

Have you tried using Mic Boost? There's an option to boost your volume - at least in Win7. Go to Recording Devices, your mic, Properties, Levels, and raise the Mic Boost(or something like that) a bit. It works for me, at least, just take care while singing, since the boost is quite powerful. :3

I don`t have that option.
As far as I know the reason why I don`t have it is because my sound card is old/bad. So no luck for me.

I gotta definetly try buying a better one

Hmm, maybe, although i think that's an Windows thing. Right-click the volume symbol, see if it isn't there :=<:

Anyways, there are some USB sound cards, if you wanna try that. I don't know how well they work, though.
