Gender-changing "I Like You, I Love You!"

Post by Kamiya on Mon Jan 31, 2011 3:26 pm

I didn't know if this counts as "Gender Changing" or "Requesting lyrics", but I couldn't find a place for this. I want to change the lyrics of Kagamine Rin's "I Like You, I Love You!" to a male version. However, because I'm not well-versed in Japanese, I don't know how to go about it. The words in the lyrics like "anata" and "atashi" seem very gender specific for females. So i wanted to change them into "kimi wa" and "watashi". Again, i don't know how to go about this. Can someone help?

These are the lyrics Anything in bold are the parts I think are Gender specific...
ne ne ne nee, ne, chotto ii
isogashii nara, gomen
sukoshi dake, ne sukoshi de ii
oshaberi ni tsukiatte

dou shiyou ka nani shiyou ka
etto geemu demo suru
shiritori shi yo
shiri to 'ri' ' ri' n.
gomen ne, tsuduka nai ne

onaka suka nai nani ka tabe tai
e eto, atashi mizu de ii ya

kimi monita kara me o hanashi ta
suki ni hisshi ni shimyureeto
sorenanoni baka mitsume rare tara
nodo ga kawai te koe de nai

puha dou shiyou

kimochi tsutae ta iyo anata ni
kono kimochi doushite kurushii no

ne ne ne nee, ne, chotto ii

With 'atashi' you could easily change it to 'watashi' since it's the same thing, just pronounced differently. It's a little difficult to change 'anata' to 'kimi wa' though since, in some parts of the lyrics, it says 'anata ga' and to change that to 'kimi wa ga' wouldn't work cause you have two particles there.
If you wanted it to be a bit more manly or make it obvious that a guy is singing rather than a girl, you could change 'atashi/anata' to 'ore/omae'. But again, there's that syllable difference between 'ore' and 'atashi'. It's a bit odd to use 'omae' with 'watashi' since 'omae/ore' are informal.

This is what I came up with using the informal guy way:
changed lyrics:
onaka suka nai nani ga tabe tai
e eto, ore wa mizu de ii ya

hora, monita kara me o hanashi ta
suki ni hisshi ni shimyureeto

------

ano ne jitsu wa
ore ore wa ore ore wa ano ano
ano ne omae ga aa

ore wa gomen matte ore ore wa
oo-ore wa ano ano ne
omae ga su

ano ne jitsu ano sono ore wa ore
ore wa ano ano ano ne

omae ga aa
ore wa gomen matte ano ano ne

e eto ore wa
omae no koto ga

ano ne ore wa omae no koto
ano ne ore wa omae no koto
o-ore wa omae ga

Although ... it's been a while so my Japanese might be rusty ^^;
Anyhow, hope that helps.

Hm...Instead of ano, can you use "eto"? Like, don't "ano" and "eto" mean the same thing?

or is there no "eto" equivilent to "ano ne"?

Well, eto and ano are sort of the same thing but they're not gender specific so it's okay to leave it like that. Actually, anata isn't gender specific either, it's just formal. The only thing that's completely feminine is atashi because it's a moe way of saying watashi, and moe = girls.

I went on NND to check if there were any boy versions of this song and there's a Kaito version.

Here are his version's lyrics:
kaito version lyrics:
