I think most of us here uses Audacity or Adobe Audition for recording.

Sounding bad or not... doesn't that depend on your mic too?

Yeah, Audacity and Audition works best around here. As long as you have a good mic - there should be almost no problem in mixing too.

I use CoolEdit Pro (it's like a old version of Atobe Audition) to record and mix in Audition.
I have this strange lag when recording in Audition ;n;

I don't think recording depends on the program, but it depends more on your microphone. If you have a good microphone, your recording comes out good in every program ^^!
But if you are talking about editing, if you have patience, you can learn Cubase. But if you want something easy to pick up, use Adobe Audition/Cool edit pro owo!
Good luck with your recordings <3!

I use Reaper. It's really good (basic, though) and a free DL. Te-he!

But if you have a LOT of extra cash, Cakewalk is always an option. I rarely use it because it's so complicated, but it's excellent for mixing.

I use Mixcraft, it has all my needs when it comes to vocal mixing and mastering. Producing with it is also fairly easy.
